This plate is in honor of Mike Jacobson, my first and only wet-plate collodion chemist. If it was not for Mike, I would not have been able to afford learning this process, starting in 2006. Thank you Mike for your persistent hard work, sense of humor, and for helping so many of us onto our way bringing back this art form. Shot outside my barn studio somewhere in Wisconsin, USA Full-plate 6.5 X 8.5 inches, TINNED-STEEL coated with three baked coats of asphaltum, Ol' Reliable Collodion: 40% aged 3 months, 60% new. Ferrous sulfate developer 16 seconds development time. Exposure stop marked: 1.5; on "Portrait Lens Series C, Fowler & Slater Cleveland, O.", Exposure time "One Mississippi, and a...". Ansco Studio camera, Lund 8X10 holder with special-ordered custom 8X10 to 6.5 X 8.5 adaptor. Scanned on an Canoscan 9900F into Photoshop LE, resized with Photoshop 24.4.1; no other enhancements. This plate is waiting for sandarac varnish, as I am waiting for a cotton wick for my oil lantern, wouldn't you know it ran out last night! It was a smokey affair!!
